5th GPE KIX Africa Research Symposium to Explore Education Financing
The 5th GPE KIX Africa Research Symposium will take place from 21–23 October 2026 at the Argyle Grand Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya, under the theme “Education Financing: Navigating Fiscal Constraints, Driving Transformation.”
The Symposium is convened by the GPE KIX Africa 19 and Africa 21 Hubs under the Global Partnership for Education's Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPEKIX), a joint endeavour with Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada. It will bring together policymakers, researchers, education and finance officials, and development partners to exchange country experiences and explore how countries can finance lasting improvements in access, equity and learning amid growing pressure on public resources.
Over three days, participants will examine financing challenges, exchange country experiences and consider practical approaches to informing policy and budget decisions. Discussions will cover equitable resource allocation, early learning and teachers, skills development, education data and technology, and resilience during crises.
As a consortium partner in the KIX Africa 19 Hub, alongside UNICEF and UNESCO-IICBA, AU-IPED will contribute its experience in strengthening education data systems to support planning, resource allocation and accountability.
Virtual participation is available. Register to join the Symposium and explore the programme and event details.
