AU-IPED to Convene the 4th KIX Knowledge Café on Statistical Processes in Education Data

On Tuesday, 25 August 2026, the African Union Pan-African Institute for Education for Development (AU-IPED), through the Global Partnership for Education Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPE KIX) Africa 19 Hub, a joint endeavour with Canada’s International Development Research Centre, will convene the 4th KIX Knowledge Café on Statistical Processes in Education Data from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. EAT.

Under the theme “Statistical Processes that make Education Data Credible and Usable,” the virtual session will examine the processes that connect education data collection to trusted evidence for planning and decision-making. Discussions will focus on data validation, quality assurance, harmonization, documentation and collaboration between Education Management Information System (EMIS) units and National Statistics Offices.

The Café will feature country spotlights from Malawi, Somalia and Sierra Leone, a thematic intervention by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, and a presentation by AU-IPED on the EMIS Self-Assessment Platform. Participants will exchange practical experiences, identify common challenges and consider priority actions for strengthening the credibility and use of education statistics.

Education officials, data practitioners, policymakers, researchers and development partners are invited to participate.
