Kenya to Host GPE KIX National Knowledge Sharing and Policy Meeting in Naivasha

Date: 19th-21st May 2026

Location: Naivasha, Kenya

The Kenya Ministry of Education through the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO (KNATCOM), and in partnership with the Global Partnership for Education’s Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPE KIX) Africa 19 Hub, a joint initiative with Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC), will convene the GPE KIX National Knowledge Sharing and Policy Meeting from 19–21 May 2026 at Sawela Lodge, Naivasha, Kenya, under the theme “Aligning Evidence for System-Level Impact.”

The meeting will bring together policymakers, researchers, development partners, GPE KIX project teams, and education stakeholders to strengthen dialogue on how evidence generated through GPE KIX can better inform education policy, implementation, and scaling in Kenya.

The meeting comes at a critical time as Kenya continues to advance education reforms aimed at improving learning outcomes, strengthening teacher development, promoting inclusion, enhancing data systems, and building more resilient education systems. Through this convening, participants will reflect on Kenya’s education reform priorities, identify practical pathways for evidence uptake, and explore how research and innovation can be more effectively aligned with policy and implementation needs.

Key discussion areas will include:

  • Kenya’s education reform priorities and evidence needs for decision-making.

  • Pathways for moving evidence into policy, implementation, and scale.

  • Thematic evidence and policy entry points across early learning, inclusion, teacher development, gender, equity, wellbeing, resilience, data systems, and governance.

  • Policy labs to identify practical uptake actions and implementation pathways.

  • Development of a Kenya KIX evidence uptake roadmap to strengthen coordination and sustained engagement across institutions and projects.

In the spirit of regional and inter-country learning, the Kenya Ministry of Education has also invited senior officials from Somalia’s Ministry of Education to participate in the meeting and exchange experiences on evidence-informed education reform and scaling pathways. This reflects the broader role of the GPE KIX Africa 19 Hub in promoting peer learning, knowledge exchange, and evidence use across participating countries.

The meeting is expected to generate practical actions for strengthening evidence uptake, improving coordination among GPE KIX projects and policy institutions, and supporting the development of a Kenya KIX evidence uptake roadmap for sustained policy engagement and system-level impact.
